You’d be hard pressed to find a more versatile fish. If you like halibut, you will enjoy Lingcod. It not only makes for the best substitute to halibut at a more affordable price, but it’s buttery oiliness places it in a class all it’s own.
Technically not a cod, Lingcod is a greenling and possibly one of the most aggressive predatory fish in all of Alaska. Like cod, it has a white meat, but is more full-bodied and a little heftier with those heart-healthy oils we seek when shopping for seafood.
Skinless and boneless, our Alaska Lingcod is hook and line-caught, then blast frozen right after catch in vacuum sealed fillets to ensure the highest quality and fresh out of the ocean flavor.
Excellent for tacos and fish ‘n chips! Try also in stews, curries, chowders, pan seared, you name it. The options are endless.
Each fillet averages between 1.6 and 2.4 lbs and individually vacuum-sealed. Save 25% when you buy in 25lb bulk, containing an average ~13 fillets.
Resource Management:
The State of Alaska has seafood sustainability written into it’s constitution and like all Alaska species, Lingcod is a highly managed resource. The State of Alaska manages the Lingcod fishery in both state and federal waters in Alaska through the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Commercial Fisheries Regulations for Lingcod. Regulations include:
Closing the fishery during spawning and nesting seasons to protect spawning female Lingcod and nest-guarding male Lingcod.
Limits on the minimum size of fish that can be caught to protect immature fish from being harvested and allow fish to spawn at least once before being subject to harvest.
Restricting catch through catch and bycatch quotas.
